Bank of America Vice-President Killed in Times Square Stabbing

Bank of America Vice-President Erin Piacenti was killed in an unprovoked stabbing attack in the heart of Times Square on Monday afternoon, in a daylight assault that also left a 68-year-old man injured and ended with police fatally shooting the woman accused of carrying it out.

The suspect, identified by police as 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros, was shot and killed by NYPD officers at the scene; she has not stood trial, and the incident remains under active investigation by the department’s Force Investigation Division.

According to the New York Police Department, officers responded to 911 calls reporting a disorderly person near West 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue at about 4:24 p.m. on Monday, 31 August.

On arrival, they encountered Cisneros displaying two large kitchen knives and advancing toward them; findings by ValidViewNetwork show witnesses reported hearing her repeat the words

“I’m over this, I’m over this” moments before the attack. Police said officers spent roughly four minutes attempting to talk her down while she remained armed, before deploying a taser and ultimately opening fire when she continued to advance.

She was transported to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue, where she was pronounced dead.

Who Erin Piacenti was

Checks by ValidViewNetwork show Piacenti, 32, of Chester, New Jersey, worked as Vice-President of Business Selection and Conflicts at Bank of America, with her office located about a block from where the attack took place.

She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2016 and Fordham Law School in 2021.

She died of her injuries at Bellevue Hospital after being stabbed in the stomach; a 68-year-old man also stabbed in the same attack survived and remained in stable condition, according to police.

“We are shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our colleague,” the bank said. “She was a valued teammate who will be greatly missed. Our hearts go out to her family and all of her loved ones.”

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch told reporters that while Cisneros had no criminal record, she had a documented history of mental health episodes and prior police interactions.

“Our officers were confronted with a rapidly evolving threat, with countless innocent people around them,” Tisch said, describing the officers’ response as consistent with their training.

She described the attack as “one life cut far too short by a senseless act of violence.”

A city on edge over public safety
