LONDON — Days after dancing before a roaring crowd at Crystal Palace Bowl, Nigerian entertainer Poco Lee is reportedly sleeping in a UK prison cell, awaiting a plea hearing that could decide the next chapter of his career.

Poco Lee, born Iweh Pascal Odinaka, is the central figure in one of the year’s fastest-moving celebrity scandals, a hype man and dancer whose rise from Zlatan Ibile’s 2018 “Zanku (Legwork)” video made him one of Afrobeats’ most bankable faces, now facing counts reported to include attempted rape and assault by penetration under UK law, allegations he has not personally addressed in public.

Findings show he remains innocent in the eyes of the law until a court rules otherwise, and ValidViewNetwork notes this distinction deliberately, given how quickly Nigerian social media has already passed its own verdict.

A Trip That Turned

Checks by ValidViewNetwork confirm the trouble traces back to mid-August.

Guardian reporting places Poco Lee in London on August 14, 2026, performing at the Davido and Friends concert at Crystal Palace Bowl, by all accounts, a triumphant night for the Lagos-born dancer sharing a UK stage with one of Nigeria’s biggest exports.

His last known public post, shared August 16 and featuring Black Sherif performing “Top of the Morning,” now reads like the final frame before the silence. That silence is what broke the story open.

Fans flooded his comment section asking where he’d gone. By August 19, unverified reports of an arrest were circulating widely enough that Arise News ran with them, though and this matters, no UK police force or court had, at that point, confirmed anything on record.

From Rumour To Remand

The confirmation, when it arrived, did not come from Scotland Yard. It came from a community figure, a source identified online as Oluomo of Derby, who told followers plainly:

“I can confirm that the reports are true. Poco Lee is currently on remand in a UK prison. His next court date is scheduled for the second week of September, when he is expected to have a plea hearing.”

That single statement, circulated August 24, is the closest thing to an official word the public has received so far.

The story then acquired a second front.

A Texas-based Nigerian rapper known as Ms Jorji alleged separately, in videos shared online, that Poco Lee had attempted to sexually assault her and her girlfriend while she sought his advice on breaking into the music industry, a claim ValidViewNetwork stresses has not been independently established by any court, and which his management has publicly pushed back on, denying associated drink-spiking allegations and asking the public to “desist from introducing details that are not part of the actual case”.

There is something almost Shakespearean in how fast a man’s fortune can invert, a stage in Crystal Palace one week, a cell somewhere in England the next.

Nigerians who lived through the Speed Darlington saga, or watched AKA’s shooting investigation unfold in Cape Town, will recognise the pattern; viral rumour outrunning verified fact, until the fact eventually, painfully, catches up.

What Happens Next

His management’s position remains that due process should run its course, and that further information will come through official channels as the case develops.

A plea hearing scheduled for the second week of September is now the fixed point everyone, fans, colleagues, and Nigeria’s entertainment press, is waiting on.

Until then, the presumption of innocence stands, whatever the timeline of the scandal suggests.
