Three Nigerians Clinch Gold at World STEM Finale

​Three brilliant young Nigerians have captured global attention by securing gold medals at the 2026 International STEM Olympiad Grand Finale held in Rome, Italy. Competing against participants from over 150 countries, the students demonstrated exceptional aptitude in Mathematics and Science, proving that Nigerian youth possess the intellect to compete at the highest international levels.

​The triumphant trio includes 11-year-old Egejurum Onyedikachi, 13-year-old Onwubiko Chimdiebube, and 17-year-old Don Anele Munachimso. The students qualified for the prestigious event after excelling at the Southeast Mathematics Olympiad, a regional competition organized by education advocate and Educare CEO, Alex Onyia.

​The Nigerian delegation achieved a series of impressive milestones during the competition at the Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma:

• ​Don Anele Munachimso: Secured two gold medals, including a world title in Science. He is notably recognized as one of Nigeria’s top Chemistry students, having previously distinguished himself in the IGCSE exams.

• ​Egejurum Onyedikachi: Won gold and was named the world’s best in Mathematics for the Primary Category. Demonstrating remarkable versatility, he also competed in the Science category without prior preparation.

• ​Onwubiko Chimdiebube: Clinched a gold medal, rounding out a stellar performance for the team.

​The participation of these students was made possible through the dedicated sponsorship of Alex Onyia, who covered all costs, including registration, visas, travel, and accommodation.
