Kidnappers Abduct Businessman, Shoot 10-Year-Old Girl in Oyo

Tuesday, May 12, 2026 — Panic has gripped the Irawo community in the Atisbo Local Government Area of Oyo State following the violent abduction of a local businessman, Alhaji Wasiu Aleshinloye, by gunmen on Monday night. The attack, which occurred at the victim’s residence, also left a 10-year-old girl with serious gunshot injuries.

​The assailants reportedly trailed Aleshinloye from the Kraal Market in Ago-Are to his filling station in Irawo, before eventually cornering him at his home. During the ensuing struggle, three armed men seized the businessman at gunpoint and whisked him away to an undisclosed location.

​According to validviewnetwork reporter, the young victim, identified as Modinat Aleshinloye, was struck by bullets during the assault and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency surgery to extract pellets. Validviewnetwork further indicates that the Oyo State Police Command has deployed tactical units to the forest reserves in the Atisbo axis to track the kidnappers and secure the victim’s release.

​The State Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed that the incident was reported to the Tede Division at approximately 10:20 p.m. on May 11, 2026. “Tactical and intelligence-driven efforts are currently ongoing to rescue the victim unhurt and apprehend the perpetrators,” Ayanlade stated.

​Detectives at the scene recovered three expended ammunition shells, currently undergoing ballistic examination, and three face caps believed to belong to the kidnappers. This latest incident heightens security concerns in the region, coming just months after a similar masked abduction in the Lagelu Local Government Area.
