Six-year-old dies after falling off 28-storey building

The Nigerian community has been thrown into mourning over the death of a six-year-old, Ayomide Bennett, after she fell from a 28-floor apartment in North York, Toronto, Canada.

In a GoFundMe created this week by one Adebisi O, Diaspora Tales gathered that Bennett, who fell off the window, was autistic but “deeply cherished for her innocence, spirit, and light.”

“Her life was tragically cut short following a devastating fall from a 28th-floor apartment at 200 Chalkfarm Drive,” the GoFundMe statement read.

“This heartbreaking loss has left her family, friends, and community in profound grief. It is also a deep loss felt within the Nigerian community in Canada and beyond, as we mourn a precious life gone too soon.

“We are raising funds to support Amna’s burial and memorial, and to help give her a dignified and loving farewell. Donations will go directly toward funeral arrangements, burial costs, and memorial expenses during this incredibly difficult time.”

Also, the Nigerian Canadian Association Greater Toronto Area posted on its Instagram account on Thursday, stated that the group’s executives, “paid a condolence visit to the family of Ms. Gift Anyanwu following the heartbreaking passing of her beloved daughter, Amna Ayomide Bennett, who transitioned last week.”

The association sympathised with the girl’s family and offered prayers, love, and support, praying for strength, comfort, and peace beyond understanding.

“Every contribution, prayer, and kind gesture will go a long way in helping the family during this painful season,” it added.
