A chilling voyeurism case has ended with a 33‑year‑old man in Northamptonshire jailed for three years and six months after a sprawling investigation revealed he had secretly filmed six women over a 10‑year period using concealed cameras hidden in everyday objects.
Jean‑Pierre Francis was brought to the attention of Northamptonshire Police in May 2024 when a woman discovered a hidden camera in the bedroom of her home in Northampton, prompting an immediate criminal investigation. Officers later identified Francis as the suspect and seized a range of electronic devices tied to his offences.
Forensic examination of those devices turned up hundreds of images and videos recorded between 2015 and 2025, with Francis using extremely discreet cameras disguised inside ordinary household items. The cameras were embedded in objects such as a camera pen, USB sticks, electrical plugs and, on one occasion, a bottle of shower gel.
Francis’s victims — six women aged in their 20s to 60s — were recorded in the privacy of their homes and workplaces, places where they reasonably expected to be safe from intrusion. He pleaded guilty to six counts of voyeurism at Northampton Crown Court on March 13 and was sentenced on April 17.
In addition to the custodial term, a destruction order was issued for all the recording devices used in the offences. Francis was also placed on a 10‑year Sexual Harm Prevention Order — which, among other restrictions, bars him from possessing camera‑equipped phones or similar recording apparatus — and placed on the sex offenders’ register for life.
Lead investigator Detective Constable Georgia Sampson described the offending as “sustained and deeply invasive,” saying Francis had abused everyday technology to violate the privacy of his victims in spaces they trusted most. She added that the case represented a complex, highly technical probe spanning a decade of behaviour and involving the meticulous analysis of multiple digital devices.
