An unidentified woman tragically lost her life after reportedly jumping off the Third Mainland Bridge into the waters near the University of Lagos (UNILAG) waterfront on Thursday, March 13, 2025. The incident occurred around 4:00 p.m. and prompted an immediate response from marine police officers stationed in the area.
According to Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, the woman was recovered by marine police at the UNILAG shore slipway. Despite their efforts, medical personnel at UNILAG confirmed her death.
Hundeyin stated, “Today, March 13, 2025, at about 1600 hours, an unidentified woman reportedly jumped from the Third Mainland Bridge into the water near the UNILAG waterfront. She was recovered by a team of marine police officers stationed in the area. Despite their efforts, she was confirmed dead by UNILAG medical doctors in the presence of officers from the Sabo Police Division.”
The deceased’s body has been transported to the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) Mortuary in Yaba for preservation.
