Voice in Leaked Audio Identified as CSP ‘Princess’ Nwode in Police Scandal

​AWKA — Investigations into the deepening corruption scandal within the Nigeria Police Force have reached a turning point following the identification of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Princess Nkiruka Nwode, popularly known as “Ruka,” as the female voice in a series of explosive leaked audio recordings.

​The recordings, which surfaced on Friday, March 20, 2026, expose a web of illegal arms deals, extrajudicial threats, and a high-level cover-up involving the prolonged detention of whistleblower and former National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Nnamdi Emeh.

​The “Ruka” Connection

​In the audio, the individual identified as CSP Nwode is heard discussing efforts to track Emeh to his family home in Abia State. The conversation carries chilling undertones of personal vendetta, with the speaker vowing that Emeh “must go down” for allegedly damaging her reputation.

​”You see this my name he has condemned… it is not everybody you just condemn their name and go scot-free,” the voice in the recording states, while also referencing tracking Emeh’s father’s house and questioning his motives for exposing the unit’s activities.

​Nwode, who was controversially named “Policewoman of the Year” in late 2025 despite pending investigations, is currently reported to be residing in the United States. Sources allege her relocation was facilitated by high-ranking officials to shield her from the fallout of the Awkuzu Rapid Response Squad (RRS) investigation.

​A Legacy of Impunity at Awkuzu

​The scandal centers on the notorious Awkuzu RRS/Anti-Kidnapping Unit in Anambra State. An internal police report—still officially unreleased—reveals that at least 11 suspects died in custody under “sudden and unnatural” circumstances between March and December 2022.

​The unit, previously led by CSP Patrick Agbazue, has been accused by Emeh and human rights activists of operating an organ-harvesting ring and conducting extrajudicial killings. While the interim police report claims there is no “conclusive” evidence of organ harvesting due to a lack of forensic autopsies, it acknowledges massive procedural failures, including the disappearance of custody registers, crime diaries, and prisoner logs.

​The Whistleblower’s Ordeal

​Nnamdi Emeh, an IT specialist, was serving his mandatory youth service when he was allegedly recruited by the unit for digital forensic analysis. Emeh later turned whistleblower, exposing what he described as a criminal enterprise run by senior officers.

​Since his arrest in the Benin Republic and subsequent repatriation in 2023, Emeh has remained in custody for over three years. Despite being granted bail by a Federal High Court in May 2023, his father, Prof. John Kanu Emeh, alleges that the police have systematically obstructed his release by intimidating potential sureties and filing repetitive legal motions.

​Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore recently called on the new Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, to end the “sham prosecution” of Emeh and revisit the allegations of organ harvesting and extrajudicial murder that continue to haunt the Anambra State Police Command.
