
The Nigeria Police Force has announced the appointment of Mrs. Rose Chollom Dung as the new Commissioner of Police for the Special Fraud Unit (SFU) in Lagos. She steps into the role as the 32nd Commissioner, following the promotion of her predecessor, Okunade Ronke Nurat, to Assistant Inspector-General of Police.
Mrs. Dung officially took over the reins of the Special Fraud Unit on Monday, August 4, 2025. Her appointment was confirmed in a statement by the Unit’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ovie Ewhubare, and marks another significant milestone in her distinguished policing career that now spans over 33 years.
CP Rose Chollom Dung hails originally from Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State and is married into Plateau State. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from Ambrose Alli University (formerly Bendel State University), Ekpoma. After joining the Nigeria Police Force on May 18, 1992, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police, she underwent her basic policing training at the Nigeria Police Academy Annex in Kaduna and started her service at the Abia State Police Command.
A renowned administrator and operational officer, Mrs. Dung has served in key positions such as Divisional Police Officer in Agbara, Ogun State; Commandant of Police Training School, Iperu; Assistant Commissioner of Police (Administration), Ondo State; and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Administration), Bauchi State. Most recently, she was Commissioner of Police in charge of Welfare at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
Known for her integrity and commitment to public service, CP Dung has completed numerous leadership and strategic courses. She is closely affiliated with international organisations such as the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the International Association of Women Police.
Stakeholders in Nigeria’s financial crime-fighting community have expressed optimism that her leadership will further strengthen collaboration between law enforcement and the private sector to combat fraud and corruption in the country.
