A 50-year-old widow and fashion designer, Mrs. Ifeoma Henrietta Ezewuike, has been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for attempting to traffic 1.3 kilograms of cocaine, disguised with a fake pregnancy belly to evade detection. Mrs. Ezewuike, proprietress of Golden Star Creation located in Ago Palace Way, Okota Lagos, was apprehended on August 22, 2025, at a bus terminal in Jibowu, Yaba, while en route to deliver the drug consignment to customers in Abuja. Subsequent searches at her home led to the seizure of 200 grams of a cutting agent used in cocaine processing. She confessed to inheriting the drug trade from her late husband, who died two years ago, despite running a fashion business for over 20 years .

This arrest is part of a wider series of coordinated NDLEA operations across Nigeria resulting in multiple seizures of cocaine, cannabis strains including Loud and skunk, opioids like tramadol and pentazocine, and the arrest of numerous suspects in Lagos, Kano, Kwara, Kogi, Adamawa, Taraba, Edo, Delta, Ondo, and Ekiti states. Notably, in Abuja, two commercial dispatch riders were arrested with pentazocine injection and skunk during deliveries, highlighting ongoing drug distribution networks in the Federal Capital Territory. Several large seizures included 48.6kg of Loud cannabis intercepted at a courier company in Lagos, over 2 tons of skunk in various operations in Kwara and Edo states, and tramadol capsules and codeine syrup in Kano and Kogi states .

The NDLEA continues to intensify its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) efforts, conducting sensitization and advocacy across schools, communities, worship centers, and government entities nationwide. The Agency’s Chairman, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), has commended officers for their successes and urged sustained diligence in disrupting drug supply chains and promoting community safety .
