First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has proposed the death penalty for kidnappers in the country, labeling them as cowards. She emphasized that anyone convicted of abduction should face capital punishment.
Tinubu made these remarks in response to the recent kidnapping incidents, including the abduction of 200 women in Borno State and over 280 pupils and teachers in Kaduna State.
Expressing her outrage, Tinubu stated, “Whoever is kidnapping young people is sick, cruel, and a coward.” She urged state governors to take decisive action against kidnappers, emphasizing the importance of protecting children and securing the future.

The Punch reports that about 200 women were reportedly kidnapped by Boko Haram terrorists in the Gamboru-Ngala and Dikwa local government areas of Borno State.
Additionally, over 280 pupils and teachers from Government Secondary School and LEA primary school in Kuriga, Kaduna State, were abducted by bandits, sparking national outrage.
The bandits reportedly invaded the Kuriga area of the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, shooting at their victims before taking them away.
