The trial of controversial social media influencer Okoro Blessing Nkiruka, popularly known as Blessing CEO, took a dramatic turn on Monday as a prosecution witness, Dr Onuoha Okeigwe, detailed before the Special Offences Court in Ikeja, Lagos, how he parted with N69,150,000 for a five-year lease on a building the defendant allegedly did not own.
Appearing before Justice R. A. Oshodi, Dr Okeigwe testified as the first prosecution witness (PW1) in the ongoing case brought against the influencer by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Blessing CEO was initially arraigned on June 9, 2026, on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence and stealing. According to the anti-graft agency, the transaction involved Hope Chiropractic Health Clinic Limited, which was allegedly induced on or about March 21, 2025, to pay the multi-million-naira sum for a property situated at No. 1 Tunbosun Osobu Street, Lekki. The charges contravene Section 1(2) and carry penalties under Section 1(3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act. She pleaded not guilty during her arraignment.
Testifying before the court, Dr Okeigwe recounted that tension flared shortly after the payment was finalized. He told the judge that an unknown man, identified as Mr Tom, stormed the premises alongside police officers and abruptly arrested some of the clinic’s workers.
The witness stated that when he contacted Blessing CEO to report the disturbance, she vehemently denied knowing Mr Tom, insisting that she was the legitimate owner of the property. Dr Okeigwe added that he was forced to shell out an extra N100,000 just to secure the release of his detained workers, while the defendant continued to maintain her stance of ownership.
To substantiate his claims, the witness presented WhatsApp chats where the defendant allegedly shared photographs of the building as proof that it belonged to her. He further revealed that aside from the primary lease fee, he also transferred additional funds to her covering agency, legal, and caution fees.
In a shocking twist during the proceedings, the witness alleged that the influencer had concurrently collected money from him and at least one other individual for the exact same property.
Following the testimony, Justice Oshodi adjourned the matter until October 26, 2026, for the continuation of the trial.
