​YOLA — Gallant troops of Sector 4, Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have dealt a devastating blow to a coalition of Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters, successfully repelling a brazen nighttime assault on the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Garaha, Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

​The coordinated raid, which commenced at approximately 9:07 pm, saw heavily armed terrorists advance on foot from the Lar axis in a desperate bid to overrun the military installation. However, vigilant troops stationed at the base met the onslaught with superior firepower and precise tactical maneuvers, forcing the insurgents into a chaotic retreat.

​A subsequent sweep and exploitation of the surrounding terrain by the military yielded the bodies of six neutralized terrorists.

​Troops also recovered a massive cache of sophisticated weaponry, ammunition, and tactical gear abandoned by the fleeing insurgents. The recovered items include:

• ​One PKT machine gun accompanied by three ammunition belts containing 67 rounds
• ​Six AK-47 rifles and 11 AK-47 magazines
• ​157 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition
• ​120 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition
• ​One 60mm mortar bomb
• ​Logistics and communication equipment, including an Infinix Android phone, a Canon portable video recorder, three camelback water bags, a magazine carrier, and assorted combat clothing.

​Regrettably, some military personnel sustained injuries during the fierce exchange of gunfire. The Theatre Command confirmed that wounded soldiers have been evacuated and are currently receiving medical attention.

​In the wake of the failed offensive, security forces have intensified surveillance patrols and ground exploitation across the wider region to hunt down fleeing remnants and safeguard vulnerable civilian populations.

​The military high command has lauded the unmatched resilience, combat readiness, and unwavering determination of the Operation HADIN KAI troops. The Theatre Command reiterated its resolve to sustain aggressive, intelligence-led operations designed to strip insurgent groups of their freedom of action and restore lasting peace and security to the North East.
