ESA-OKE – The Ijesa Community Development Assembly (ICDA) has formally announced the passing of the Owamiran of Esa-Oke, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adeyemi Akanbi Adediran, Atipa Owaji II. The revered monarch reportedly joined his ancestors on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, marking the end of a transformative 22-year reign.
In a somber statement released by the Asiwaju of Ijesaland and Chairman of the ICDA, Asiwaju Olayinka Fasuyi, the late sovereign was hailed as a quintessential “symbol of unity” and a progressive leader whose influence stretched far beyond the borders of Esa-Oke.
Oba Adediran, who ascended the throne in 2004 from the Ile Aragadagbagun (Yeye Owa) ruling house, was widely respected for his ability to harmonize ancient customs with the demands of contemporary society. His tenure was characterized by a period of relative peace and a relentless drive for community-centered development.
”Kabiyesi was a monarch of quiet strength and thoughtful leadership,” the statement remarked. “His presence brought stability and reassurance in times of communal challenges, reinforcing the enduring relevance of traditional institutions in the 21st century.”
Throughout his two decades on the throne, the Owamiran was a vocal advocate for educational advancement and social harmony. He was instrumental in fostering cohesion within the Obokun Local Government area and was frequently sought after for his statesmanship and wise counsel by fellow traditional rulers across Ijesaland.
The ICDA described the monarch’s transition as a “significant loss” for the entire region. The Assembly extended heartfelt condolences to the royal family, the Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland, and the global community of Esa-Oke indigenes.
As the town begins its traditional rites of passage, the legacy of Oba Adeyemi Adediran is expected to endure through the various peace and developmental initiatives he championed during his distinguished reign.
