The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has executed a major redeployment of 27 senior officers, primarily Air Vice Marshals, as part of a strategic reshuffle under the new Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke. This move aims to enhance operational efficiency, improve decision-making speed, strengthen coordination across units, and align the command structure with evolving security challenges and ongoing defence reforms. Notably, 19 officers received new appointments within NAF commands and staff positions, while others were posted to various defence and inter-service establishments to bolster joint operations and national defence coordination.
Key appointments include Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Abdullahi as Chief of Policy and Plans; AVM Adeniran Ademuwagun as Commandant of the Air Force Institute of Technology, Kaduna; AVM Ibitayo Ajiboye as Group Managing Director of Nigerian Air Force Investment Limited; AVM Precious Amadi as Chief of Operations; and AVM Nnamdi Ananaba as Chief of Air Intelligence. Additional senior roles such as Chief of Aircraft Engineering, Air Officer Commanding Mobility Command, Chief of Communication and Information Systems, and administrative leadership positions also saw new occupants.
The redeployment follows closely the new Chief’s assumption of office and mirrors a similar restructuring in the Nigerian Army, signifying a comprehensive effort to reinforce Nigeria’s military leadership under the current administration. The reshuffle is intended to sustain reform momentum, promote cross-command collaboration, and ensure the Nigerian Air Force is more agile and intelligence-driven amidst security demands.
