Federal authorities continue their urgent search for Tamera Renee Williams, a 46-year-old Michigan woman wanted in connection with the brutal 2018 murder and dismemberment of her boyfriend, David Carter. Williams remains at large since she was added to the U.S. Marshals Service’s 15 Most Wanted Fugitives list in 2023, with a $25,000 reward offered for information leading to her arrest.
In September 2018, tragically, the dismembered remains of 39-year-old David Carter were found scattered along Interstate 75 near Hancock, Ohio. Authorities accuse Williams of fatally shooting Carter before dismembering his body and disposing of the parts along the highway. A felony arrest warrant was issued for Williams three months after the killing, charging her with first-degree homicide, disinterring a dead body, and tampering with evidence. Despite widespread efforts, she has not been found.
“Tamera Williams stands accused of a heinous and brutal crime,” U.S. Marshals Director Ronald L. Davis said in 2023, stressing that apprehending her is a top priority to provide justice for Carter’s family. Williams is described as 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing about 190 pounds, with black hair, brown eyes, and a distinctive rose tattoo on her left shoulder. Authorities believe she fled to Brooklyn, New York, and may be working in a medical clinic, using her background as a trained phlebotomist.
Williams also has links to the Order of the Eastern Star, a group associated with Freemasonry, possibly offering clues to her connections. She has been noted as a world traveler with ties across the U.S. and past work experience as a travel agent.
David Carter’s family remembers him fondly. His sister, Tasia Carter-Jackson, called him “an amazing dad” and a “hard worker,” while his father, Elton Carter, pleaded in 2023 for anyone helping Williams to turn her in, seeking closure.
This case has attracted national attention, featured on crime shows such as FOX’s America’s Most Wanted, Investigation Discovery’s In Pursuit with John Walsh, and Netflix’s Unsolved Mysteries in 2022, keeping public interest alive and encouraging tips.
Authorities warn Williams should be considered armed and dangerous, and anyone with information on her whereabouts is urged to contact the U.S. Marshals 24-hour tip line at 1-877-WANTED2 or via the USMS Tips App.
