A groom suddenly collapsed and died during wedding celebrations in Egypt. The horrific and tragic moment was caught on video, as the young groom was dancing with his wife.
Ashraf Abu Hakam was holding his bride’s hand, when he suddenly fell to the floor. Guests rushed to his aide, but unfortunately were unable to revive him. Doctors later confirmed he had died from a heart attack. Video images showed Ashraf and his bride dancing with other guests, as a band plays music and sings.
Later he can be seen waving a pole around his head as others watch on, before continuing to dance with his bride.
Out of the blue, he suddenly collapses and the joyous atmosphere abruptly changes to shock and then grief.
Music and laughter were replaced by screams as the wedding hall fell silent.
News of the incident spread rapidly across social media, with hundreds expressing shock and offering condolences. Ashraf was described by friends as being full of life and excited by his future.
Some recalled celebrating his engagement just a day earlier, unaware that joy would soon turn to sorrow.
Meanwhile, a mother has accused a wedding venue in the United States of refusing to refund over US$18,000 in deposit following the sudden death of her son prior to his nuptials.
Chris Perry and his fiancée, Kristen Seidel, had reportedly booked The Cotton Room in Durham, North Carolina for their wedding, scheduled for October 11th of this year.
Tragically Chris passed away in May, after suddenly collapsing just one day before his 33rd birthday.
His bride-to-be attempted to get a refund, but the venue has so far refused to comply.
His grieving mother Sue told the TV channel WRAL that multiple attempts to meet with the venue and find a resolution have been unsuccessful.
WRAL reported that the venue classified the nearly US$20,000 as a non-refundable deposit.
“During that time, we turned away other couples who inquired about booking October 11,” explained Michelle Aldred, the executive director of TC Hospitality Group, which owns The Cotton Room.
“While our deposit policy is non-refundable, we deeply sympathise with the family’s loss and extend our sincere condolences.”
