President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrived in Lagos on Friday for a strategic working visit to the nation’s former seat of government as Nigeria prepares for a low-key celebration of its 65th Independence Anniversary. The President’s visit to Lagos followed his attendance at the coronation of His Imperial Majesty, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

During his stay in Lagos, President Tinubu is scheduled to engage with key players in Nigeria’s private sector alongside senior government officials. These discussions are aimed at bolstering economic collaboration and advancing national development strategies. Following Lagos, the President will visit Imo State on Tuesday, September 30, to commission significant infrastructural projects completed under Governor Hope Uzodimma’s administration.
A highlight of the 65th Independence Day celebrations will be President Tinubu’s commissioning of the newly remodelled National Theatre in Lagos, now renamed the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts, in honor of Nigeria’s Nobel Laureate in Literature. This transformation of the iconic venue represents a spirited commitment to promoting the nation’s cultural heritage and creative industries.

The 65th Independence Anniversary, themed “Nigeria at 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation,” will be marked by various religious, civic, and cultural activities culminating in the formal commissioning of key national projects, with an emphasis on unity, progress, and national pride.
