The separation of popular Nigerian comedian Ayo Makun, known as AY, and his wife Mabel after 20 years of friendship and marriage has been confirmed by AY himself through a post on his Instagram page on Sunday.
AY expressed that he has reached a point where he no longer wishes to publicly discuss deep personal family issues and wants to protect the mental health of his grown-up daughter who has access to social media.
In his Instagram post, AY mentioned that he is not proud of some of his actions that have led to the dissolution of his 20-year friendship/marriage, but he emphasized the importance of not casting blame solely on one party and acknowledged that no one is completely innocent in such situations.
AY also alluded to the prevalence of false information spreading faster than the truth in media and blogs, expressing confidence that his truth will eventually prevail over the lies.

Similarly, Mabel posted on her Instagram page indicating her response to disrespect by choosing distance and refraining from engaging in drama or arguments.
This suggests that she is prioritizing her own well-being and peace in the midst of the situation.
AY and Mabel tied the knot in November 2008 and have two children together.
The couple’s separation marks a significant development in their long-standing relationship, and they appear to be navigating this personal matter with a focus on privacy and mutual respect.
