The political crisis currently rocking Rivers State assumed another dimension on Thursday with the resignation of more commissioners from the cabinet of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
The latest commissioners to hand in their resignation are the Commissioner for Works, George-Kelly Alabo, and his counterpart from the Ministry of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation, Inime Chinwenwo-Aguma.
In their separate letters, dated December 14, and addressed to the state governor, through the Secretary to the State Government, the commissioner gave vayg reasons for their action.
Alabo and Chinwenwo-Aguma’s resignations came hours after the state Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Prof Zacchaeus Adangor, resigned from his position.
Also, the Commissioner for Special Duties, Emeka Woke, and Commissioner of Finance, Isaac Kamalu have resigned from Fubara’s cabinet.
Those who have resigned so far are said to be strong allies of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Wike.
Recall that there is already a division in the state house of assembly, with 27 out of the 32 member resigning their membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the All progressive Congress (APC).
The 27 lawmakers are said to be loyalists of the immediate governor, Wike.
