In response to a libel suit filed by Air Peace against the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ), a Lagos High Court has ordered Air Peace to provide answers to specific questions raised by FIJ regarding its aircraft operations from Lagos to Anambra State on October 12, 2022.
The suit, numbered LD/ADR/4833/23 – Air Peace v. Foundation for Investigative Journalism, involves Air Peace contesting allegations of negligence and adherence to safety protocols during the mentioned flight.
Air Peace objected to certain questions posed by FIJ in its interrogatories, deeming them “scandalous and irrelevant” to the case.
However, in a ruling delivered by Justice Jose, the court upheld FIJ’s argument, stating that the questions are relevant to the facts in issue and can potentially support Air Peace’s defense.

The court directed Air Peace to answer Questions 1, 4, and 7 of FIJ’s interrogatories within seven days.
These questions seek comprehensive information regarding the aircraft involved in the flight, technical issues encountered, and details of the replacement aircraft.
The suit was adjourned until May 23, 2024, for further proceedings.
Previously, FIJ had reported an incident where passengers aboard an Air Peace aircraft experienced engine failures multiple times during takeoff from Lagos to Anambra.
The airline responded by filing a libel suit against FIJ, seeking damages totaling N305 million for alleged defamation.
