INEC will publish an updated INEC candidates list for the 2027 general elections once it finishes reviewing complaints, but it has not said when.
INEC said it is effecting corrections submitted by parties and candidates, together with court orders, and will publish once ready.
An INEC official said no date has been fixed.
HOW THE LIST BECAME A DISPUTE
The row traces to a 24 September Supreme Court judgment. It upheld Sections 77(5)-(7) of the Electoral Act 2026 and required parties to submit membership registers by 10 May.
INEC published the governorship and Assembly list on 9 October. Mohammed Haruna argued that affected parties disqualified themselves by not meeting the requirement.
WHO IS AFFECTED
Affected candidates include Oladipupo Adebutu (PDP, Ogun), Isa Ali Pantami (PDP, Gombe) and Aminu Gwarzo (NDC, Kano).
The NDC has formally written to INEC asking it to restore its governorship candidates.
INEC gave aggrieved parties until 24 October to notify it. Some parties are also in court, and INEC said it will comply with judgments when they come.
THE NATIONAL LIST
INEC says it published the final presidential and National Assembly list on 12 September, 13 days before the judgment.
Those elections are set for 16 January 2027, with governorship polls on 6 February. Time is short, so the INEC candidates list must settle before litigation does. ValidViewNetwork reports.
