The first son of billionaire industrialist Chief Razaq Okoya, Fatai Okoya, has publicly begged his father for forgiveness after an alleged 30-year estrangement, claiming that his father’s wife, Shade Okoya, blocked him from approaching his father at his 86th birthday celebration.
The revelation came during a TikTok Live session on Sunday, where the 66-year-old recounted his side of a family feud that has spanned decades.
“I’M BEGGING MY FATHER”
Fatai did not mince words in his appeal.”I’m begging my father. To err is human, to forgive is divine. He should please overlook all my behaviour then as a child. He should please see that I, too, am a grown man. He should use his elderly wisdom to embrace us and bring us back to the family so that the issue can be settled once and for all,” he said.
He added that reconciliation would allow both of them to rebuild their relationship. “So that the two of us can be strong and better than before,” Fatai said .
THE ROOT OF THE RIFT
Fatai attributed the estrangement to two factors: a money dispute and his decision to marry a woman his father disapproved of .
He acknowledged taking a small amount of money from his father’s company when he was younger and reckless, but insisted the sum was not substantial.
“The money was not even enough to buy a car,” he said, adding that he believed it was something his father could forgive.
He also cited his marriage choice as a source of contention.”I was young and in love at the time,” he explained .
THE BIRTHDAY PARTY INCIDENT
Fatai said the last time he saw his father was on January 12, 2026, at the billionaire’s 86th birthday celebration.
He claimed he received a VIP welcome at the event but was stopped from approaching his father by Shade Okoya.
“I was turned back by Alhaja Shade Okoya,” Fatai said. “I only wanted to greet my father. My father saw me but did not have anything to say”.
He alleged that Shade intervened and told him he could not see her husband.
HIS GRANDMOTHER’S INTERVENTION
Fatai also recalled the role his grandmother played during the estrangement.
“Our grandmother, that was my angel in those days. She was not happy with the way things were going,” he said .
He recounted what he said was his grandmother’s warning to his father.
“She told our father, ‘When you are doing this kind of a thing to your son, by having a misunderstanding with him, what are you going to do to your brothers and sisters when I am gone?'”
He said his grandmother was deeply concerned but had to be cautious in how she intervened.
“There’s a limit to what she can say in this matter, because if she talks too much, our father might not be happy. So that was why she had to lie low,” he said .
THE FAMILY’S REACTION
Fatai’s daughter, identified as Zee during the session, said she had no relationship with her grandfather and alleged that someone kept blocking their attempts to reach him.
Chief Razaq Okoya’s brother, who was present during the live session, said Shade Okoya should not have stopped Fatai from seeing his father and that she should have handled the situation better .
The host of the session, Yeye Kudi, called on billionaire businessman Baba Ijebu, a friend of Chief Razaq Okoya, to intervene and help facilitate a reconciliation .

NO RESPONSE FROM THE OKOYAS
Neither Shade Okoya nor Chief Razaq Okoya has publicly addressed the claims as of the time of this report .
WHY IT MATTERS
The Okoya family feud is a private matter that has become public, and the allegations made by Fatai are serious. If his account is accurate, it suggests that a father and son who were once close have been kept apart for decades, and that attempts at reconciliation have been blocked by those around the billionaire.
If it is not, the public airing of family grievances has caused unnecessary pain to all involved.
What is clear is that Fatai wants to reconcile. Whether his father will respond remains to be seen.
ValidViewNetwork reports that Fatai has made his appeal. The Okoya family has not commented.
