The personal assistant to late gospel singer ToluwaniSings, Babadunni Olayemi, has revealed that the musician was taken to between seven and eight hospitals in Ibadan, Oyo State, after he suddenly slumped, but efforts to secure medical attention were unsuccessful.
The Toluwanisings eight hospitals before death account, given by his Personal Assistant– Babadunni, paints a picture of frantic efforts, closed doors, and a life that slipped away despite every attempt to save it.
THE FINAL HOURS
Toluwanisings, whose real name was Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, died in the early hours of Wednesday, October 14, 2026, according to a statement from his family shared on his verified Instagram page.
The gospel singer had ministered at “In His Presence,” a monthly worship programme hosted by fellow gospel singer Bidemi Olaoba in Ibadan, on Tuesday night .
Hours later, he complained of tiredness and slumped at his residence. According to Babadunni Gbolabo, there were frantic efforts to save the singer’s life.
“I am Babadunni Gbolabo. I am the PA to ToluwaniSings. When it happened in the morning, I wasn’t here, so they called me and I came,” he said .
“HE WAS VERY FINE AND IN PERFECT CONDITION”
Babadunni insisted that the singer had shown no signs of illness before the incident.
“There was nothing wrong with him. He was very fine and in perfect condition. He just slumped. They tried to resuscitate him. They went helter-skelter. They took him to some hospitals, but they were giving excuses,” he said.
The PA described a grim sequence of rejections. “Some said doctors were not working because of the strike. Some did not admit him at all. That is how it went. We tried our best, including prayers. We took him up to seven to eight hospitals in Ibadan, but God said his time was up,” Babadunni said.
THE HOSPITALS THAT TURNED HIM AWAY
Multiple accounts confirm that hospitals in Ibadan refused to attend to the singer.
According to the ICIR, the aide told BBC Yoruba that “all the hospitals where he was rushed to rejected him. In some of the facilities, they said their doctors were on strike. In others, they claimed their doctors were unavailable”.
The Per Second News report quoted Gbolabo as saying they first rushed him to University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, but were turned away because doctors were on strike.
Celebrity journalist Seun Oloketuyi offered a more detailed account, stating that the first hospital refused to admit him, a second facility did the same, and by the time Toluwanisings arrived at a third hospital, medical staff could only confirm that he had died.
THE FAMILY’S STATEMENT
The family confirmed the singer’s death in a statement posted on his Instagram page late Wednesday.
“With deep sorrow, the family announces the passing of MINISTER OLAYEMI BAYONILE BOLAJI, Toluwani Gospel Music Ministry (TOGOMM), who passed away in the early hours of 14 October 2026”.
The family described him as a beloved husband, family member, and gospel minister, adding that funeral arrangements would be announced in due course.

In July 2026, Toluwanisings and members of his crew survived a road accident involving their vehicle and a fully loaded trailer while returning from a gospel ministration.
The singer had shared photographs of the damaged vehicle on Instagram at the time, expressing gratitude to God for preserving their lives .
THE LAST WHATSAPP MESSAGE
In a poignant twist, a WhatsApp status Toluwanisings posted on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, has drawn significant attention.
The message, originally from an X user, urged people to set aside pride and repair damaged relationships: “Apologise when you are wrong. You are too young to lose genuine people because of pride. Stop thinking everyone is replaceable… Sometimes, maturity is simply admitting, ‘I was wrong. I’m sorry’ ”.
The singer added a personal caption: “I am very sorry” .Whether those words were directed at a specific person or carried a broader meaning has not been confirmed.
WHY IT MATTERS
The death of Toluwanisings is a tragedy on multiple levels..A young man, a husband, a father of two, a gospel minister whose songs touched millions, died after a sudden collapse.
The immediate cause of death has not been made public .
But the accounts of his final hours raise uncomfortable questions about access to emergency medical care in Nigeria.
A man was taken to seven or eight hospitals in one of the country’s major cities and turned away at nearly every one. Some cited doctors’ strikes. Others simply refused to admit him.
If a popular gospel singer, with resources, connections, and people willing to help him, could not get medical attention in time, what happens to ordinary Nigerians who face the same emergencies?
For now, the gospel music community is in mourning.
Tributes have poured in from colleagues and fans, including lawyer Pelumi Olajengbesi and comedian Woli Agba, who had earlier urged the public to pray for the singer.
The family is meeting to decide on funeral arrangements..ValidViewNetwork reports that Toluwanisings was taken to seven to eight hospitals before his death. His music will continue to speak.
