Adeboye to FG: Give Security Chiefs 90 Days to End Terror or Resign

LAGOS — The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has demanded a radical shift in Nigeria’s counter-terrorism strategy, urging the Federal Government to place security chiefs on a strict 90-day performance deadline to end the country’s security crisis or vacate their offices.

​In a video broadcasted via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Tuesday, the influential cleric expressed deep worry over the unrelenting wave of massacres, kidnappings, and insurgent attacks that continue to plague various regions of the country.

​Pastor Adeboye asserted that the era of routine government assurances and rhetorical empathy must give way to measurable, consequence-driven accountability.

​”If I were asked to make suggestions, I would say quietly to our government: move fast and tell our security chiefs, get rid of these terrorists within 90 days or resign,” Adeboye stated.

​Unmasking the Financiers

​Beyond neutralizing active combatants in the field, the RCCG leader emphasized that the warfare against insurgency would remain an exercise in futility if the financial lifelines of these criminal networks are left intact.

​He charged the authorities to display absolute political will by aggressively hunting down the financiers and sponsors of terrorism, regardless of their societal status, economic muscle, or political affiliations.

​”When giving orders to the service chiefs this time around, it should be made clear that they are not only to eliminate terrorists, but also those sponsoring them, no matter how highly placed they may be,” he added.

​Reflecting on historical precedents, the cleric revealed he had previously offered similar counsel to a former Nigerian president, who subsequently issued a decisive ultimatum to his security commanders. He noted, however, that the initiative faltered because the government failed to enforce consequences once the timeline lapsed.
