‘Who Is More Kwankwasiyya Than Us?’ Jibrin Vows to Deliver Kano for Tinubu

For Kano’s 2027 contest, one of the most interesting political arguments is not coming from a newcomer.

It is coming from a politician who says he knows the political movement he is now challenging.

House of Representatives member Abdulmumin Jibrin has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will secure Kano in the 2027 presidential election.

Jibrin’s argument is built partly around his history within the Kwankwasiyya political movement associated with former Kano governor Rabiu Kwankwaso.

Making the point, the lawmaker asked: “Who is more Kwankwasiyya than us?”

He argued that his experience within the movement gives him knowledge of its structure and grassroots politics. He also declared his intention to help deliver Kano for Tinubu.

That is a political claim, not an electoral fact.

ValidViewNetwork reports that there is a useful distinction between understanding a political movement and being able to transfer that understanding into votes.

Kano is a state with a long history of strong grassroots political organisation.

Kwankwasiyya has demonstrated significant political mobilisation in the state, while APC, PDP and other political forces are also building their own structures.

Jibrin’s argument therefore offers an insight into APC’s possible campaign thinking, but it cannot establish what voters will do in 2027.
