Suspect Held After Filming Attacks on Homeless with High-Powered Water Gun

​A 34-year-old Houston man, Christopher Cayce, has been arrested and charged with two counts of assault causing bodily injury after a series of disturbing incidents in which he allegedly targeted homeless and disabled individuals with a high-powered, motorized water gun.

​The Houston Police Department’s Major Offenders Division, in collaboration with the Westside Crime Suppression Team, launched an investigation after discovering that the suspect had been recording the attacks and uploading them to social media. According to official reports, Cayce would drive through the city, specifically identifying vulnerable individuals at bus stops or those sleeping outdoors, and douse them with high-pressure jets of water.

​Investigators noted that the nature of the weapon was central to the criminal charges. Unlike standard hand-pumped toys, the motorized device used by Cayce discharged a sustained, forceful stream of water capable of inflicting physical harm. Police confirmed that the attacks were not isolated; evidence has linked the suspect to multiple incidents dating back to the summer of 2025.

​In a defense offered to a local broadcaster, ABC13, following his release on a $200 bond ($100 per charge), Cayce claimed that he prayed before his outings and insisted the device was set to its lowest power setting. He also controversially referred to some of his targets as “zombies,” claiming the term was meant as “commentary for content” rather than a reflection of his personal views.

​The Houston Police Department stated that while Cayce has been charged in connection with an attack on two men on June 4, the investigation remains active. Authorities indicated that additional charges could be forthcoming as they continue to review the social media footage and identify other potential victims. Cayce is scheduled to return to court on July 9.
