One of Nigeria’s foremost Microbiologists and former Vice-Chancellor, Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State, Distinguished Professor Olukayode Amund stands tall today at the University of Lagos, Akoka as he is decorated an Emeritus Professor.

The event forms part of the 55th Convocation Ceremony of the University where both Prof Amund alongside another highly revered academic, Prof. Babajide Alo are to assume Emeriti status of the Institution.

The award is in recognition of their contributions to scholarship and the academia, just as another top academic, Prof. Victor Ariole of the Department of European Languages bags the Gold Medal Award for his ongoing contributions to the Institution and the nation.

In similar vein, Director-General of World Trade Organization and former Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

For Prof. Amund who bowed out of UNILAG two years ago when he clocked 70 and after 45 years meritorious service to the University, the conferment of Emeritus Professor, the highest honour in the academia, is a fitting honour.
