For Nora Olumide-Johnson, what she describes as the end of a decades-long relationship has become a battle involving property, allegations of financial misconduct and the intervention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Nora Olumide-Johnson, a former confidential secretary to Globacom Chairman Mike Adenuga, has accused the billionaire businessman of witch-hunting her after she allegedly ended a relationship she said lasted about 27 years.
Johnson made the allegation in a video that has resurfaced, in which she appealed for help as EFCC operatives attempted to evict her from a Lagos property.
Introducing her account of the dispute, Johnson alleged that her decision to walk away from the relationship was at the centre of her current ordeal.
She said, “I’m being witch-hunted for dumping Mike Adenuga.”Johnson also described the length and personal cost of the relationship, saying, “30 years I gave my life to Mike Adenuga, yet he wants to drive me away from this house.”
She further denied stealing money and connected the allegation to her decision to end the relationship.
According to Johnson, “He said I stole money, the money I didn’t steal because I want to break up.”She also spoke about the personal consequences of the relationship, saying, “What have I done? … This house that I build, how many houses did I have? What did he do for me? He didn’t do anything for me. No husband, no children. I am finished.”
ValidViewNetwork reports that the dispute is not entirely new. Johnson had previously been involved in legal proceedings linked to allegations of financial misconduct, including accusations involving money allegedly belonging to companies associated with Adenuga.
The earlier dispute dates back to 2021.
The important distinction is that Johnson’s allegations of witch-hunting remain her account of the matter and should not be treated as established findings against Adenuga.
The renewed attention has therefore placed an old legal dispute back in the public space, with competing allegations still requiring determination through the appropriate legal processes.
The case also illustrates why serious allegations involving property, financial misconduct and personal relationships cannot be settled by public accusation alone.
Whatever the competing claims may be, the proper place for determining criminal liability and property rights remains the courts and other legally empowered institutions. ValidViewNetwork reports.
