Tensions are mounting within the political camp of AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq following allegations that he purchased two separate Expression of Interest (EOI) and Nomination Forms for the Kwara Central Senatorial District under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), each reportedly bearing different signatures.
The revelation, contained in internal party documents titled “APC Sales of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for 2027 Senatorial Election” and obtained by SaharaReporters, has sparked concerns over transparency, internal democracy, and possible manipulation within the party in Kwara State.
According to the document, the governor’s name appears twice on the list of aspirants—first as number two and again as number ten. While the names are identical, the accompanying signatures are said to differ, raising questions about irregularities in the submission process.
Further details show that the two forms are linked to separate payment receipts. One carries receipt number 003144, while the other is tied to receipt number 013705, confirming that distinct payments were made. The form serial numbers also differ, with one listed as 0000128 and the other as 0000240, reinforcing claims that two independent forms were processed under the governor’s name.
Investigations indicate that the forms were purchased on consecutive days—April 29 and April 30, 2026—adding to the controversy.
The development has triggered confusion and anger among party members, many of whom are now demanding clarification from both the APC leadership and the governor.
Meanwhile, the political atmosphere in Kwara State remains tense, particularly within the APC, as uncertainty over internal arrangements continues to fuel dissatisfaction among aspirants.
In a related move, the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, has declared his intention to contest for the Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.
Party insiders say tensions have escalated, with several aspirants—who have already obtained nomination forms—reportedly considering defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The potential defections are said to be driven by frustration over what some describe as the governor’s lack of clear direction ahead of the party primaries.
One party member, who spoke anonymously, expressed concern:
“We don’t know where the governor stands. There’s no clarity or guidance, and this issue of multiple forms has only worsened the situation. Many of us are already weighing our options.”
Another source added that the crisis goes beyond the forms, describing it as a matter of trust and leadership.
Efforts to reach the APC Kwara State Publicity Secretary, Abd’wahid Babatunde, were unsuccessful, as he declined to comment when contacted.
In a separate development, reports indicate that Governor AbdulRazaq recently travelled to France amid ongoing security challenges and renewed bandit attacks in parts of the state.
Sources alleged that the trip was politically motivated, claiming the governor sought to secure strategic backing ahead of the 2027 elections. It was further alleged that he initially attempted—unsuccessfully—to join the delegation of Bola Tinubu before travelling independently to pursue private political engagements.
According to insiders, the visit was linked to efforts to gain presidential support for succession plans in Kwara State, with the aim of maintaining political influence after the end of his tenure.
