​In a chilling revelation of criminal volatility, the Police Force Intelligence Department’s Special Tactical Squad (FID-STS) has dismantled a notorious kidnapping syndicate, uncovering that the gang executed all their hostages following a bizarre mishap involving their leader.

​According to ACP Victor Ogbeide, commander of the unit, the syndicate’s collapse began when their ringleader, identified as Buhari Adamu, accidentally shot himself in the leg with his own AK-47 rifle. Fearing their leader was dying from the injury, the remaining gang members panicked and launched a vengeful killing spree, murdering all their captives and discarding the bodies into a nearby stream.

​”They thought he had died from the injury. And with that realization, they angrily killed all their victims,” ACP Ogbeide stated during an interview with Arise TV.

​The investigation led operatives to a remote, fortified camp situated within the rugged hills of Bagalapi. Upon raiding the location, police recovered crucial evidence, including an AK-47 rifle and 22 rounds of live ammunition hidden beneath rocks. Authorities also recovered 14 cows and three sheep, believed to be the proceeds of the gang’s illicit activities.

​The arrest of two key suspects has provided significant intelligence, fueling the police’s ongoing efforts to track down the remaining members of the network. The FID-STS has reiterated that dismantling interstate kidnapping rings remains a top priority, warning that such criminal operations will continue to face aggressive tactical interventions across the country.

​Investigations remain active as police work to hold all involved parties accountable for the heinous crimes committed in the aftermath of the gang leader’s injury.
