Social Media Influencer Arrested in Baton Rouge Burglary

​BATON ROUGE, La. — A popular local social media comedian has traded online skits for real-world legal trouble. Dejontay Wings, a 27-year-old Baton Rouge resident with a significant digital following, was arrested by the Baton Rouge Police Department over the weekend following an unusual investigation into a late-night business burglary.

​According to police arrest warrants, the incident occurred late last year on December 2, 2025, at the Take 5 Oil Change location on Airline Highway. Investigators allege that at approximately 10:50 p.m., Wings shattered a garage window to gain entry to the automotive maintenance facility. Once inside, he allegedly navigated through the office to a safe and removed roughly $200 in cash.

​While the facility was equipped with a surveillance network, a security camera malfunction during the break-in prevented management from capturing a clear image of the suspect’s face. However, the store’s manager later reviewed the compromised footage and told detectives they immediately recognized the perpetrator’s highly distinctive stride and manner of walking.

​According to police, Wings had been terminated from his job at the exact same Take 5 Oil Change location just two weeks prior to the incident, giving him inside knowledge of the office layout and the safe’s location.

​Wings, who commands a substantial online audience of nearly 300,000 followers on Instagram under the moniker @wingstoofunny, is known locally for creating digital comedy sketches. Following the verification of his identity via his gait and employment history, authorities issued an arrest warrant.

​Wings was officially apprehended and booked into the local jail facility on charges of simple burglary and criminal damage to property. The investigation remains open as the case heads toward formal prosecution.
