The pervasive threat of insecurity in Kaduna State has taken a harrowing new dimension following the release of a distressing video showing an abducted couple and their infant daughter held at gunpoint by bandits.
The victims, identified as Ahmad Abubakar Zakka, his wife, and their baby daughter, were seized when heavily armed assailants raided the Alrahus Estate in Millennium City, located within the Chikun Local Government Area of the state. The midnight raid, which occurred on Monday, October 5, 2026, also saw the abduction of a pregnant woman from the residential neighborhood, sparking intense panic among residents.
In the grim footage circulating publicly, Mr. Zakka is seen seated in captivity with the infant on his lap while his wife sits distressed beside him. The footage lays bare the immediate danger facing the family, featuring an armed assailant pointing an AK-47 rifle directly at Zakka’s head while issuing chilling threats to take his life. Visible signs of physical trauma were apparent, as Zakka’s right hand appeared heavily swollen and restricted.
Speaking with palpable anguish in the clip, Zakka made a direct and emotional appeal to the general public, calling for urgent intervention to secure their freedom.
”My name is Ahmad Abubakar Zakka. I am seeking help from God, and I am asking you to come to our aid. I was taken away on Monday…” he stated, before revealing the exorbitant financial demand placed on his household. “Please, I am pleading for help. Please help me, help me… They are demanding a ransom of N300 million. Please come to our aid and help us.”
The latest development has intensified grief and anxiety across Millennium City and surrounding suburban settlements, which have increasingly found themselves vulnerable to coordinated midnight incursions. Local security watchers note that despite ongoing tactical adjustments, residential estates on the urban fringes remain prime targets for criminal syndicates operating from nearby forest hideouts.
As family members and sympathizers grapple with the steep N300 million ransom demand—an impossible sum for ordinary citizens—calls are mounting for state security architecture to be swiftly reinforced to rescue the young family unharmed. Official responses from the Kaduna State Police Command regarding ongoing rescue operations are still being awaited as community anxiety reaches a fever pitch.
