ISTANBUL
Victor Osimhen inspired another Galatasaray comeback on Saturday, contributing a goal and an assist as the Turkish champions came from behind to beat Göztepe 3-2 at RAMS Park and reclaim top spot in the Süper Lig table.
Osimhen, Nigeria’s Super Eagles captain, is not facing any dispute over this result, the match outcome is a matter of public record, confirmed across multiple sports outlets including The Sun Nigeria and Bold Sports.
A shaky start, a familiar rescue
Göztepe stunned the home crowd with an early lead through Miroshi in the 16th minute, catching Galatasaray on the back foot.
But the response was swift: Davinson Sánchez restored parity as the hosts began to seize control, before Osimhen turned provider, setting up Gabriel Sara to put Galatasaray ahead just before half-time and complete the turnaround.
Osimhen adds his name to the scoresheet
The Nigerian striker got directly involved in the goal column himself in the 63rd minute, confidently converting a penalty to extend his season tally to five goals.
Göztepe pulled another goal back to make the closing stages tense, but Galatasaray held firm to see out the win.
What it means for the title race
The victory takes Galatasaray to the top of the Turkish league table after three matches, strengthening the defending champions’ early bid to retain their title.
For Osimhen, the result continues a hot run of form that has made him a fixture on the club’s scoresheet, and a reminder, for Nigerian football fans following from home, of the striker’s growing standing in one of Europe’s more competitive leagues.
