Newlywed Arrested in Bauchi for Allegedly Poisoning Husband’s Meal

BAUCHI — A 40-day marriage has abruptly turned into a criminal investigation after a 19-year-old housewife, Aisha Musa, was taken into police custody for allegedly attempting to poison her husband in Gwamma Village, situated within the Bauchi Local Government Area.

​According to official police reports released by the Bauchi State Police Command, the incident unfolded on August 12, 2026. Investigators stated that the newlywed bride allegedly laced her husband’s meal with a toxic substance around 3:15 PM.

​The plot was exposed later that evening at approximately 7:40 PM, following a swift distress call placed by an anonymous caller residing in the Wunti Dada area of Bauchi. Acting on the tip-off, operatives from the ‘C’ Division stationed at Tafawa Balewa Estate mobilized immediately to the scene.

​Law enforcement officers successfully evacuated the victim and rushed him to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi. Medical personnel confirmed that the victim is currently responding to treatment and remains in a stable condition.

​Following the rescue operation, police operatives promptly apprehended the suspect. During initial questioning, the 19-year-old was formally cautioned and reportedly issued a voluntary, confessional statement admitting to the crime.

​Authorities recovered critical physical evidence from the scene, including an empty bottle suspected to have contained the poison and remnants of the contaminated meal, both of which have been duly registered as exhibits.

​The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the case file to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a discreet and comprehensive inquiry. The command has assured the public that the suspect will be formally charged to court as soon as the investigation concludes.
