ABEOKUTA — Nollywood actress Tayo Adeniyi has sparked a fresh cultural conversation by challenging traditional societal expectations, urging women—particularly those navigating their late 30s and 40s—to detach their self-worth from the milestones of marriage and childbearing.
In a candid video circulating across social media platforms, Adeniyi addressed the heavy psychological and social tolls placed on women who find themselves unmarried or childless later in life. She strongly cautioned against viewing marital status or parenthood as the definitive yardstick of a successful existence.
”Women who have striven for these milestones without success should never feel incomplete or bow to societal pressure,” Adeniyi stated. She emphasized that authentic happiness and personal fulfillment can be fully realized independently, warning against the danger of enduring toxic, unhealthy dynamics simply to secure a partner or conform to conventional timelines.
The actress further advised women against compromising their standards or tolerating unacceptable behaviors out of desperation. Instead, she encouraged a shift in focus toward self-discovery, internal joy, and embracing life on one’s own terms, trusting that natural milestones will unfold without the need for forced compromises.
