LISBON — The British royal family has expanded with a joyful new addition following the announcement that Princess Eugenie has given birth to a baby girl.
Weighing 6 pounds and 9 ounces, the healthy newborn arrived on Monday evening at 6:20 p.m. at a hospital in Lisbon, Portugal. This newest arrival is the third child for the 36-year-old princess and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, joining their two older sons, August Philip Hawke Brooksbank (born in 2021) and Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank (born in 2023).
Buckingham Palace released an official statement sharing the joyful news on behalf of the family. “Their Majesties The King and Queen and other members of The Royal Family were delighted to be informed of the news,” the palace noted.
The proud parents, who split their time between Portugal and Ivy Cottage on the grounds of Kensington Palace, took to social media to share their elation. In an update posted to Instagram featuring a tender photograph captured by Mr. Brooksbank, the princess wrote: “Jack and I are so excited to announce Baby Girl Brooksbank!! We are beyond in love with our girlie.”
While the couple has yet to publicly announce a name for their daughter, her birth places her 15th in line to the British throne. The pregnancy was initially revealed back in May, when the couple shared a charming snapshot of their young sons interacting with a baby scan.
