Egba Computer Village Nears Completion as Abeokuta North Boosts Economic Growth

The Abeokuta North Local Government has reaffirmed its commitment to grassroots economic development, with steady progress recorded on the much-anticipated Egba Computer Village project in Olomore, Abeokuta.

Chairman of the council, Hon. Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo, disclosed this during an inspection of the site alongside the Ogun State Commissioner for Urban and Physical Planning, TPL Tunji Odunlami. The visit highlighted the administration’s resolve to deliver a modern commercial hub tailored to the growing ICT and gadget market.

Describing the project as a critical initiative, Oyegbola-Sodipo said the Egba Computer Village is being developed as a one-stop hub for phone dealers, gadget sellers, and accessory vendors within and beyond Abeokuta North.

“This project reflects our strong commitment to infrastructure development and economic expansion. The progress so far is encouraging and shows we are on course,” he said.

He explained that the facility will comprise 140 lock-up shops and 100 open stalls, designed to stimulate commercial activities, create jobs, and provide a more organized business environment for ICT traders.

Oyegbola-Sodipo added that the choice of Olomore as the project site was strategic, aimed at improving accessibility and driving business growth in the area.

He expressed confidence that the project would soon be completed and commissioned, noting that it aligns with broader efforts to position Abeokuta North as a thriving economic hub.

“With the level of work done, we are optimistic about timely completion. This project is key to building a stronger and more economically viable Abeokuta North,” he added.

When completed, the Egba Computer Village is expected to reshape the local commercial landscape by offering a structured marketplace and strengthening Ogun State’s digital economy.
