Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Donald Trump spoke by phone Tuesday for nearly 40 minutes, discussing rising tensions in West Asia and the need to keep the Strait of Hormuz open and secure.
Modi said in a post on X that Trump called him, and the two leaders also reviewed what Modi called substantial progress in bilateral cooperation across sectors. The conversation came as concerns grew over regional instability and possible disruption to a vital global shipping route.
Trump and Modi, both of whom have maintained a warm public rapport, also touched on broader India-US ties, according to reports. The call underscored the strategic importance both countries place on maritime security and energy flows in the Gulf.
