In a distressing turn of events for the Nigerian film industry, the residence of veteran Nollywood actor Adeola Shoremi, widely recognized by his stage name Lanko Omo Oba Dubai, was decimated by fire on Tuesday afternoon.
The news was first brought to public attention by Shoremi’s ex-wife and colleague, the popular comic actress Mama No Network. Taking to her official Instagram account, she shared footage of the inferno, which showed thick smoke and flames engulfing parts of the property.
Alongside the video, she offered words of support for the embattled actor, writing:
”Lanko Omo Oba Dubai’s house got burnt. I pray may God recover all his losses soon.”
While the immediate cause of the blaze remains unconfirmed, the footage suggests significant property damage. Fans and colleagues of the actor have since flooded social media with messages of sympathy, expressing relief that no casualties have been reported as of the time of filing this story.
Shoremi and Mama No Network share a long history, having married in 2014. Although they separated and Mama No Network subsequently remarried in 2023, her public outreach highlights a lingering professional and personal camaraderie within the industry.
Efforts to reach Shoremi for a direct statement on the extent of the damage are currently ongoing.
