Ogun, Shandong Advance Trade Partnership in Rizhao

The Ogun State Government, under Governor Dapo Abiodun, recently held the second edition of the Shandong Province–Ogun State Economic and Trade Matchmaking Session with a special spotlight on Rizhao, a key city in Shandong Province, China. This significant event gathered a diverse group of investors and business leaders from Rizhao, creating a vital platform for mutual dialogue, partnership, and economic collaboration.

Governor Abiodun emphasized that the discussions during the session focused on crucial sectors such as manufacturing, energy, agriculture, technology, and infrastructure development. These sectors align closely with Ogun State’s economic priorities aimed at boosting industrial growth and job creation. The matchmaking session underscored the comparative advantages of both regions and opened up new pathways for enhanced trade and investment not only between Ogun State and Shandong Province but also between Nigeria and China at large.

Moreover, the Governor highlighted the strategic importance of the Olokola deep sea port project for Ogun State. He noted its potential to transform the state into Nigeria’s leading industrial and maritime hub and serve as a gateway for better trade links between Africa and Asia. Engagements with Rizhao’s leadership included exploring ways to bring top-tier technical expertise and investments into this port project. These efforts reflect the state’s commitment to sustained industrial expansion and prosperity.

This event follows the momentum of high-profile investments such as the $50 million injection from the Lee Group, a China-based detergent manufacturer expanding operations in Ogun State. Governor Abiodun’s delegation also met leading firms like Inspur, a prominent IT company, and Royal Ceramic, confirming the growing confidence of Chinese investors in Ogun’s business-friendly environment.

The Governor expressed optimism that with continuous collaboration, Ogun State will solidify its position as a preferred investment destination and continue driving economic growth, industrial development, and employment creation for its citizens.
