EFCC, ARMY in Stronger Collaboration against Graft

The Acting Zonal Director of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC , Kano Zonal Directorate, Deputy Commander of the EFCC, DCE Sa’ad Hanafi Sa’ad, has reiterated the need for enhanced collaboration between the Commission and the Nigerian Army in the areas of joint personnel training and intelligence sharing, particularly to combat the financing of terrorism through illegal mining.

Sa’ad made the call in Kano on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 while paying a courtesy visit to the Brigade Commander of the 3 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Brigadier General A.M. Tukur, at the Brigade Headquarters.

The EFCC boss emphasized that a stronger synergy between the two agencies is crucial in tackling complex economic and financial crimes that threaten the nation’s security and economic stability. He specifically highlighted the importance of joint training programs to bolster the operational capacity of personnel from both organizations.

“Collaboration is key in the fight against economic and financial crimes. We are here today to strengthen our existing relationship and explore new frontiers of cooperation, especially in the area of joint training for our personnel. Furthermore, we seek the Brigade’s support in intelligence sharing, particularly in tackling the activities of illegal miners whose proceeds often fuel other grave security challenges like terrorism financing”, he said.

In his response, Tukur commended the EFCC for its pivotal role in safeguarding the nation’s economy and assured the Commission of the Brigade’s unwavering support and partnership. He declared that the doors of the 3 Brigade are always open for greater synergy with the EFCC.

The Brigade Commander also requested reciprocal inclusion of his personnel in the Commission’s training and engagement programs. As a step towards fostering camaraderie and physical fitness, he warmly invited EFCC personnel to participate in the Brigade’s monthly training exercises designed for senior officers.
