Breaking: Computer-based WASSCE starts Friday

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that the Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination for Private Candidates, 2024 – Second Series, will commence on Friday, October 25, and run until Friday, December 20, 2024.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, WAEC confirmed that the examination will employ a hybrid mode of delivery and that the registration period has been extended to Tuesday, October 29, 2024.

The statement read: “The examination will adopt a hybrid mode of delivery, meaning that objective or multiple-choice questions will be presented on-screen, with candidates required to respond on the screen. Essay and practical questions will also be displayed on-screen, but candidates must submit their responses using the answer booklets provided.

Additionally, the examination diet will offer an option for candidates who prefer to use paper and pen for all examination papers.

“On this note, the Council wishes to inform all prospective candidates that the registration period has been extended to Tuesday, October 29, 2024.”

WAEC also announced that the “Walk-in Candidate” option (for candidates who register 24 hours before the scheduled paper) will be available at the end of the registration period. The final timetable for the examination can be downloaded from the WAEC Nigeria website.

Furthermore, the Council encouraged all intending and registered candidates to take advantage of the various learning resources it provides.

“All intending and registered candidates are advised to make the most of the numerous learning resources available from the Council. These include signing up on the WAEC e-Study platform, purchasing WAEC Past Questions and Answers books, and joining other candidates on the WAECKonnect platform.

“WAEC wishes all candidates the best of luck in their examinations. The Council is committed to delivering on its mandate by utilising technological innovations to make its services more accessible to all stakeholders,” the statement concluded.
