“You Fought The Battle, We Fought Alongside You” — Sunny Alli Pays Emotional Tribute To Mentor Ogogo

LAGOS

For every star Nollywood has produced, there is usually an older hand who opened the door first, and for actor Sunny Alli, that hand belonged to the late Alhaji Taiwo Hassan Ogogo.

Sunny Alli is the latest in a growing line of Nollywood figures to publicly mourn Ogogo, describing himself as one of the veteran actor’s protégés and crediting him with shaping not just his own career but those of several others who came up under his wing.

ValidViewNetwork gathered that Alli’s tribute went further than a simple condolence message, framing Ogogo as a mentor who continued checking on and supporting those he’d helped long after they had become established names in their own right.

A Mentor Remembered

According to Alli’s tribute, Ogogo’s death followed a period of illness during which colleagues, family, fans, and Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora kept him in their prayers, a detail that echoes the outpouring ValidViewNetwork has tracked across the industry since news of his passing broke.

Alli acknowledged that, for all the goodwill and prayers, there comes a point where nothing can hold back what has already been decreed, framing Ogogo’s passing as something ultimately beyond anyone’s control.

“He Lived A Fulfilled Life”

Alli’s closing words struck a tone of gratitude rather than despair, describing Ogogo as a man who lived a fulfilled life and was deeply loved by colleagues, family, friends, and fans alike because of his character and his deeds.

“We still love you. RIP our legend,” he said, in a line that has already begun circulating among fellow industry figures paying their own respects.

The Bigger Picture

Alli’s tribute adds to a widening chorus of voices, actors, colleagues, and fans reflecting on Ogogo’s decades-long imprint on Nollywood, not just as a performer but as a figure who mentored the generation now carrying the industry forward.

As burial arrangements and further tributes continue to emerge, ValidViewNetwork will keep tracking reactions from those closest to the veteran actor.
