Two identical teenage twins brutally murdered their own mother in their family home in a chilling case that left police reeling.
Jasimayh and Tasmiyah Whitehead, both 16 at the time, were model students who had been partially raised by their mother, Nikki, and their great-grandmother Della Frazier.
Nikki was just 25 when she met Robert Head, a 55-year-old lorry driver, and the family relocated to his residence in Conyers, Georgia.
However, the relationship quickly soured as Nikki repeatedly left her daughters for extended periods with their great-grandmother.
Della found herself raising the twins single-handedly for a significant amount of time, while Nikki fought her for custody. The idea of returning to their mother did not sit well with the girls.

On 5 January 2010, Nikki regained custody of her daughters, a decision that the twins strongly opposed. Just over a week after returning to their mother’s care, the girls brutally killed Nikki.
The mum was discovered in the bath with multiple stab wounds, with the girls alleging they found her in this state.
The police were summoned to the home and described the scene as the “bloodiest I’ve ever been to.”

Lt Chris Moon of the Conyers Police Department said: “As soon as you opened the door, you could smell the blood, the copper iron smell in the air.”
Nikki’s partner was exonerated by the police. However, bite marks on the teenagers, inflicted by their mum during the altercation, led to officers suspecting them.
“Do I think they were capable of doing it?” said Petrina Sims, owner of Decatur’s Simply Unique salon, where Whitehead worked until her death. “I was hoping not, but after all she had gone through, it was like you almost knew it was them.”
The 16-year-olds were charged in May 2010 and pleaded not guilty. But as the evidence mounted against them, Tasmiyah admitted to voluntary manslaughter and several other charges in January 2014.
“There was a point soon after the murder when a lot of people became suspicious of the two girls,” Police Chief Eugene Wilson told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Her sister eventually confessed in February 2014 and they were both handed 30-year prison sentences.
Tasmiyah was sent to Arrendale State Prison, while Jasmiyah began her sentence at Pulaski State Prison.
