Cher Looks to Tie the Knot with Boyfriend Alexander “AE” Edwards Before Milestone Birthday

Legendary singer and actress Cher, 79, is reportedly gearing up to marry her boyfriend Alexander “AE” Edwards, who is 39 years old, marking a bold milestone ahead of her 80th birthday in May 2026. This potential union comes nearly 50 years after the end of her second marriage, adding fresh excitement to the star’s personal life.

Reports surfaced recently that Cher sees her upcoming birthday as an ideal moment to formalize their commitment, despite the considerable 40-year age difference. A source close to the couple told the Mirror that Cher is unfazed by public scrutiny about the gap, emphasizing that their happiness and connection outweigh societal opinions. However, Cher’s representative has publicly denied these reports, telling Page Six that the wedding news is “not true,” leaving fans eager for clarity.

Cher has previously addressed the age difference publicly, showing a dismissive attitude towards criticism during a November appearance on CBS Mornings. Speaking with Gayle King, she said, “Whatever… they’re not living my life. Nobody knows what goes on between us, but we just have a blast.” She highlighted Edwards’ perspective on the age gap, remarking, “You know, you get older, but your spirit is younger,” underscoring that their bond is rooted in shared joy rather than numbers.

The couple have shared a vibrant and loving relationship since first being romantically linked in 2022 in Los Angeles. Cher has openly expressed her affection, calling Edwards “beautiful” and “one of the most talented persons I’ve ever met.” She celebrated their three-year romance on social media with messages of defiance against detractors saying, “Haters are gonna hate… Doesn’t matter that we’re happy & not bothering anyone.”

Their relationship became highly visible with a dazzling red carpet debut in March 2023 at the Versace Fall Fashion Show, during which they displayed affectionate public gestures that caught the media’s attention.

Cher’s romantic history includes high-profile relationships and marriages. She was previously married to legendary musicians Sonny Bono (1964–1975) and Gregg Allman (1975–1979). Over the years, she has also been linked to celebrities such as Val Kilmer, Gene Simmons, and Tom Cruise, consistently drawing public interest for her dynamic personal life alongside her enduring career.

As Cher approaches her 80th year, the world watches eagerly to see whether she will take this new step in her relationship with Edwards. Regardless of marital status, Cher’s outspoken stance and joyful spirit continue to inspire fans worldwide.
