Stepfather Charged After DNA Links Him to 11-year-old Stepdaughter’s Baby

A dad has been arrested after his stepdaughter gave birth at home – and was revealed to be a “99.9% DNA match” for the baby. Stepfather Dustin Walker, 34, and mother Cherie Walker, 33, were detained last week after the 11-year-old child delivered a baby on August 16, according to police.

The couple were initially charged with one count of felony child neglect after they claimed they were unaware the child was expecting, and the girl hadn’t seen a doctor in over a year. But on Monday, their charges were amended after DNA testing revealed that the stepfather was a “99.9% DNA match” for the baby’s father.

Mr Walker stands accused of sexually abusing the girl, who was 11 years old at the time, between January 1 and August 16, leading to her giving birth to his child, reports the Mirror. The pair were also hit with six counts of felony child neglect, including failing to provide the 11-year-old with proper medical care and supervision when she delivered at home.

Her mother, Cherie Walker, was charged with enabling child sexual abuse.

“This is one of the most if not the most serious child sexual abuse and neglect cases I have ever prosecuted,” Muskogee County Assistant District Attorney Janet Hutson said in a statement.

“This child is traumatised. She’s been through a horrific ordeal. I mean, not only has somebody gotten her pregnant, but she gave birth at home without medical assistance, and this will be her life for the rest of her life.”

The 11-year-old’s grandmother defended the pair, telling the publication: “I just want people to know, we did not know this was happening. None of us.

“They’ve made my daughter and my son-in-law a monster. They are not. They love those children. They love them,” she declared, expressing her hope of reuniting with her grandchildren.

“Each of the charges against both defendants are punishable by up to life,” she added. The pair are scheduled to return to court on September 3.

It comes after a man has been charged for the alleged murder of a pregnant woman and her partner, who was found decapitated.

Athena Georgopoulos, 39, was five months pregnant when she was killed alongside her 50-year-old partner Andrew Gunn inside their home in Melbourne, Australia, according to police.

Terrified neighbours heard screams coming from inside the home. Police were called to the scene and discovered the decapitated body of Gunn beside the pregnant mum.
