The African entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning following the reported deaths of two beloved actresses within just 24 hours. This heartbreaking development has left fans and colleagues in shock. According to reports, veteran Kannywood actress Wasila Isma’il reportedly died at the age of 46 after battling illness for a long period, while Ghanaian actress and television personality Beverly Afaglo was also reported dead at 42.
ValidViewNetwork reports that Wasila’s death was confirmed by her former husband, Al Amin Chiroma, who disclosed that she died at the Federation of Muslim Women Associations of Nigeria Hospital in Kaduna. The late actress was widely celebrated in the Hausa movie industry and became famous after starring alongside Ali Nuhu in the movie Wasila.
She reportedly began her acting career in 1998 and later became one of the most recognised faces in Kannywood through several successful Hausa films. Fans, filmmakers, and actors flooded social media with emotional tributes shortly after news of her death broke, ValidViewNetwork reports.
Hours after the announcement of Wasila’s passing, another wave of grief reportedly swept through the entertainment industry following news of Beverly Afaglo’s death. Reports indicated that her husband, musician Choirmaster, announced the sad development on Instagram. Although the exact cause of death was not disclosed, reports suggested she had been unwell for some time.
