SURREY, United Kingdom — Surrey Police have officially launched a criminal investigation into two separate allegations of historical child sexual abuse stemming from unsealed files related to the late billionaire financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The development positions Surrey as the third British police force to open formal investigations into the web of political and royal figures entangled in the Epstein scandal following the mass release of documents by the U.S. Department of Justice.
According to a statement released by the force, the allegations have been split into two distinct operational timelines. The first report encompasses a series of offenses allegedly committed across multiple locations in Surrey and Berkshire between the mid-1990s and the year 2000. The second probe centers on allegations of abuse dating back to the mid-to-late 1980s in West Surrey.
Specialist detectives are currently interviewing the alleged victims. No arrests have been made, and police officials stated that teams are actively working “to identify any reasonable lines of enquiry to verify information or establish corroborating evidence.”
Chilling Claims in Unredacted FBI Reports
The sudden police intervention follows the public exposure of an unredacted July 2020 FBI document embedded within the unsealed Epstein files. In the document, a woman detailed a harrowing account of being drugged and forced into “pedophile ring parties” held at high-end properties in Virginia Water, Surrey, during the mid-1990s.
The complainant leveled severe allegations directly against Prince Andrew (Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor) and Epstein’s imprisoned co-conspirator, Ghislaine Maxwell. The woman alleged that she was restrained on a table and “tortured with electrical shocks” by Maxwell while the Prince and a group of other men watched.
Furthermore, the victim claimed she was hit by a dark blue vehicle allegedly “driven by Prince Andrew,” which resulted in severe injuries to her ribs, hip, and leg.
Surrey Police had previously reviewed their internal databases and found no historical records of these incidents being reported at the time. Prince Andrew has consistently and vehemently denied any wrongdoing regarding his association with Epstein.
A Growing Legal Network of UK Probes
The Surrey investigation significantly compounding the mounting legal pressures facing the embattled Duke of York, who was arrested in February on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
The broader British police response to the unsealed U.S. documents has split into several high-profile fronts:
- Thames Valley Police: Detectives are currently investigating allegations that Prince Andrew leveraged his position as a UK government trade envoy to pass confidential diplomatic and economic information to Epstein. The force is also investigating parallel claims that a woman was actively trafficked into the UK by Epstein specifically for a sexual encounter with the Prince.
- The Metropolitan Police: Scotland Yard is spearheading a separate misconduct in public office investigation into Lord Mandelson, Britain’s former ambassador to the United States. Mandelson stands accused of forwarding sensitive, confidential government information to Epstein during his tenure as Business Secretary under Prime Minister Tony Blair. Mandelson has denied all allegations of wrongdoing.
Trafficking Links to British Airfields
In addition to the physical and sexual abuse allegations, Surrey Police are examining claims regarding the logistics of Epstein’s international trafficking network within the UK.
The investigation is analyzing flight manifests and logs from the unsealed files, which suggest that Epstein’s private aircraft frequently utilized major commercial hubs and military installations. The locations under review include Heathrow, Gatwick, and Luton airports, as well as RAF Horsham and RAF Marham.
The transport aspect of the probe follows formal national security concerns raised by former Prime Minister Gordon Brown regarding the potential use of British air space and military infrastructure to facilitate human trafficking.
