Lagos, Nigeria – Air Peace, a leading Nigerian airline, has strongly condemned the “unruly conduct” of Senator Adams Oshiomhole, former Edo State Governor and current Senator for Edo North, following an incident at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 1 (Zulu Hall) on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.

The airline alleges that Senator Oshiomhole disrupted operations, physically assaulted staff, and barricaded the terminal entrance after missing his early morning flight to Abuja.
According to a statement released by Air Peace management, Senator Oshiomhole arrived at approximately 6:10 AM for Flight P47120, scheduled to depart Lagos for Abuja at 6:30 AM. In line with the airline’s strict on-time departure policy, boarding had already closed, and the flight departed as scheduled.
Upon being informed of the missed flight, the situation reportedly escalated. Air Peace claims the senator resorted to violence, physically assaulting airline staff and forcefully barricading the terminal’s entrance.
He is further accused of sealing the entry gate and manning the access point, effectively obstructing other passengers from entering the terminal. Reports from airport sources and eyewitnesses suggest that Oshiomhole refused to move despite repeated pleas from the terminal manager, even prompting the regional manager to intervene and a hurried management meeting to pacify him.
Some accounts also describe him allegedly jumping onto a baggage conveyor belt and attempting to use seats to block the departure hall.
This “unacceptable behaviour,” as described by Air Peace, caused significant disruption to ongoing airport operations and affected numerous travellers scheduled for various flights. To mitigate further inconvenience, Air Peace swiftly activated an operational contingency plan, directing affected passengers to an alternate terminal to ensure the continuity of their travel plans.
Air Peace expressed deep sadness that a high-profile public figure exhibited such disruptive conduct towards fellow passengers and airline personnel, reiterating its zero-tolerance stance on violence or any form of aggression against its staff and passengers. The airline urged all guests to remain civil and cooperative, emphasizing that aviation operations are governed by strict timelines and safety protocols.
In a counter-narrative, Senator Oshiomhole has reportedly denied the allegations, asserting that he did not disrupt airport operations. Instead, he claimed to have rejected preferential treatment and to have stood up against what he termed “systemic extortion and poor customer service” by airline operators.

While the incident is reported to have occurred on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, for a 6:30 AM flight, Oshiomhole’s account, as per some news reports, details arriving 40 minutes early for a 6:50 PM flight on Tuesday. He claims he remained calm and only intervened when other stranded passengers began to protest, insisting that rules should be followed for everyone, not just for preferential treatment.
Air Peace maintains its commitment to discipline, integrity, and respect for due process, stating that “no individual, no matter how influential, is above these values.”
